Canada tour is serious business

TORONTO, Canada --  The West Indies team will be going all out to win all their matches in the upcoming tri-nation series in Canada in convincing fashion, as they get ready for the International Cricket Council’s Champions’ Trophy 08.
The Windies assembled in Canada on Saturday, where they will be involved in a four-match one-day tournament with Canada and Bermuda. The matches will be played at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club, King’s City, Toronto from Monday to Sunday August 24.
According to Team Manager Omar Khan, the matches will be used as preparation for the Champions Trophy, slated for Pakistan from September 12 to 28.

“We are here to win as well. We want to start a winning momentum. These are very important matches and we want to win and win convincing,” Khan said from the team hotel in Toronto.

“The upcoming tri-nation series is the ideal opportunity to do some preparation work for Champions Trophy. The players will do skill work with the coaching staff and this week will also provide a great chance to do specialised work as we look ahead to Pakistan.

“Also, the coach will be able to do a lot of work with them and certain experiments can be tested before the challenging Champions league. We are in the group with Australia, Pakistan and India, so it will be very tough for us and we need to be at the top of our game.”
