Sammy to lead St. Lucia's charge in Windwards tournament

CASTRIES, St Lucia (CMC) – West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy will lead a 14-man St Lucia squad which leaves here Saturday to contest the annual Windward Islands senior tournament in Dominica.

The 24-year old, who has played five Tests and 17 One-Day Internationals, is the most experienced player in the line up for the competition which bowls off Sunday.

Windward Islands Under-19 player Denis Louis is the only newcomer on the squad which comprises mainly players from the disbanded St Lucia Stanford pro-team.

The tournament will begin with the two-day segment which will be played on a round robin basis and will be followed by the limited overs phase, which will also be played on a round robin basis.

Matches for the tournament are carded for the Windsor Park Stadium and the Botanic Gardens in Roseau, as well as the Geneva Playing field in Grand Bay and the Benjamin’s Park in the north of the island.
