Shiv back to the top
ST.JOHN'S, Antigua -- West Indies batting star Shivnarine Chanderpual has reclaimed his Number 1 position at the top of batting charts on the official International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Test Player Rankings.
The rankings released by the ICC on Tuesday show Chanderpaul at a career-high 890 points – ahead of Kumar Sangakarra of Sri Lanka on 886 at Number 2 and Australia’s Michael Hussey (880) who has slipped from the Number One perch to third position.
The 34-year-old Chanderpaul was last month named as the ICC’s International Cricketer of the Year 2008 following his brilliant batting performances over the last 12 months. The sensational left-hander is also at Number 6 in the ICC One-Day International batting rankings.
Meanwhile, West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo has maintained his position at Number 4 in the ICC Allrounder Rankings for Test cricket. The 25-year-old right-hander is on 295 points – which he reached during the third Digicel Test Match against Australia in Barbados in June. He is presently recovering from an ankle operation and unavailable for selection.
