Johnson in good form
GEORGETOWN, Guyana -- West Indies batsman Leon Johnson was in good form as he prepared for the upcoming tour of Abu Dhabi. The 21-year-old left-hander made an unbeaten 42 and also took two wickets as Georgetown Cricket Club beat the Guyana Defense Force by nine wickets in the Twenty20 Division One competition Friday.
Johnson is part of the West Indies team which leaves the Caribbean on Saturday to face Pakistan in three One-Day Internationals in Abu Dhabi. He will also be part of the team to New Zealand for two Tests, two T20 Internationals and five One-Day Internationals.
Allrounder Steven Jacobs, the West Indies Under-19 Vice Captain, was also in good making 53 not out for Malteenoes Sports Club. He added an unbroken 117-run partnership with Shemroy Barrington (56) as MSC beat Mavaricks by 10 wickets in the Demerara zone of the tournament.
Jacobs smashed five fours in his 56-ball innings while Barrington, stroked five fours and a six in facing 51 balls, as MSC overhauled their target of 116 for eight, reaching 117 without loss with eight balls left in the innings.
