WICB breaks new ground
ST. JOHN'S, Antigua -- The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has broken new ground with the hosting of a pre-event seminar for its 2009 Cricket Season.
Held at the Jolly Beach Resort in Antigua on Wednesday, the seminar was part of the Board’s new Strategic Plan Initiative in which the Board has expanded all of its events planning processes to embrace the Territorial Boards across the region.
The seminar was attended by representatives of all territories hosting international matches during the 2009 cricket season and the team of facilitators included Dr. Donald Peters, CEO, WICB; Mr. Barry Thomas, Chief Financial Officer; Ms. Alanna Medford, Legal Officer; Ms Nelecia Yeates, Acting Commercial Manager; and Mr. Anthony Howard, Chief Cricket Operations Officer.
The diverse range of topics covered at the all-day session included “Recognising Sponsors’ Rights and Obligations”’ “Managing and Meeting ICC Requirements at the Grounds”, “The Role of the Territorial Boards in Promoting West Indies Cricket” and “Managing Costs at International Events.”
The participants, who were drawn from Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts, St. Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago, were all of the view that the seminar was most informative, valuable, and energizing, and should go a long way in helping Territorial Boards manage their international cricket events.
