New boy Nurse named in Barbados squad
BRIDGETOWN -- The Barbados cricket selectors named middle-order batsman Rohan Nurse as the only newcomer in their squad for the start of the 2009 West Indies Cricket Board’s Four-day Regional Tournament.
The 25-year-old from the Spartan Cricket Club is a former Barbados Under-19 captain. He secured his place with a fine 132 on the last Barbados Preparation Series match at the North Stars Ground on the island’s north coast. The 13-man Barbados squad to face Trinidad and Tobago in their season-opener on January 9 at Police Sports Club in Bridgetown will be led by Jason Haynes.
The squad includes eight players with West Indies experience -- Sulieman Benn and Kemar Roach, just back from West Indies team duty in New Zealand, Ryan Hinds, Dwayne Smith, Tino Best, Pedro Collins, Corey Collymore, Dwayne Smith, and wicket-keeper/batsman Patrick Browne.
