West Indies to hit the field against provincial sides

POTCHEFSTROOM, South Africa -- The West Indies team will have two warm-up matches in the North West province as they prepare for the International Cricket Council’s Champions Trophy 2009 here in South Africa.

The first game will be on Saturday against provincial side Cape Cobras at the Markötter Stadium in Klerksdorp. The second match will be on Monday against North West Dragons in the suburb of Witrand. First ball in both matches is 10 am (4 am Eastern Caribbean Time/3 am Jamaica Time).

The West Indies players arrived in South Africa on Monday and will be in camp in the city of Potchefstroom until September 16. The team will then have official ICC CT09 warm-up matches against South Africa on September 18 at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom and against Sri Lanka on September 20 at the LC de Villiers Oval in Pretoria.

The West Indies are drawn alongside Pakistan, Australia and India in Group A of the Champions Trophy and all the Windies matches will be played at The Wanderers in Johannesburg. In the first round: vs Pakistan (September 23), vs Australia (September 26), vs India (September 30).

The ICC CT09 is a short, snappy limited-overs event which features the top eight nations in world cricket playing 15 matches in two weeks.
