Stoute takes great eight but Windies A lose

Kevin Stoute had a memorable, career-best bowling performance for West Indies A but it was not enough for his team to record a victory over Lancashire in the final match of their five-week tour of England and Ireland.

Stoute, the brisk medium-pacer from Barbados, captured 8-52 from nine overs, as Lancashire, were dismissed for 271 in 50 overs in the tour match at Old Trafford. The Windies were them bowled out for 218 with 38 balls to spare. The 24-year-old Stoute, who is better known for his batting, ran through the of the Lancashire batting as he got the ball to move both ways at good pace.

When the Windies batted, Imran Khan was the best as he hit a brilliant 74 with 11 boundaries from just 63 balls. The best partnership of the innings was 63 for the eighth wicket between Khan and fast bowler Gavin Tonge, who made 19. Former Jamaica and West Indies fast bowler Daren Powell opened the bowling for Lancashire and ended the innings when he had Khan caught behind to end with 2-19 from 7.4 overs.

The West Indies A team players will return home on Friday and most of them will be participating in the Caribbean T20, to be played from July 22 to 31 in at Kensington Oval in Barbados and Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad.
