Sarwan and Deonarine depart as CCC apply pressure

Guyana lost skipper Ramanaresh Sarwan and Narsingh Deonarine at crucial stages in their pursuit of 143 for victory against Combined Campuses & Colleges in Match 7 of the West Indies Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Sunday afternoon.

Sarwan, the experienced right-hander top-edged a pull from a quick, short ball from Barrington Yearwood to be caught at third attempt by Nekoli Parris running around from mid-wicket to square leg. Sarwan’s contribution was 29 off 29 balls as Guyana reached 70-3off the first 10.1 overs.

Deonarine played an ugly slog a slower ball and was well caught by Ryan Wiggins at mid-off for just five to give Gilford Moore his second wicket. The Guyanese now need another 73 runs off the last 9.5 overs to win the match and book a place in the semi-finals. The main batsman at the crease is left-handed opener Sewnarine Chattergoon, who is on 24.
