Ramdin equals record as T&T dominate
St Augustine, Trinidad, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin held seven catches as his side dominated Combined Campuses & Colleges on the first day of their second round WICB Regional Four-day match.
CC&C were bowled out for 131 and the home side reached 45-2 in reply on a rain-shortened day at the UWI Sports & Physical Education Complex.
Ramdin, who led the side in the first match in the absence of Daren Ganga, was superb behind the stumps to set a new Trinidad and Tobago record and equal the regional four-day record, which he now shares with unrelated Barbadians Courtney Browne and Patrick Browne.
The 25-year-old Ramdin was an excellent back-up for the bowling of seamer Rayad Emrit (3-11) and pacer Shannon Gabriel (3-73). Off-spinner Amit Jaggernauth snared 2-6 to maintain the pressure. The visitors needed a top score of 23 from Ryan Austin to get over the 100 mark.
In the final hour pacer Kevin McClean then took 2-16 from six overs, as the CCC hit back. The tall right-armer, who is a member of the Sagicor High Performance Centre, had opener Lendl Simmons caught at slip for six with the score on nine.
McClean then shattered the stumps of Runako Morton for just three as T&T were struggling on 3-2- at that stage. Left-handed opener Justin Guillen has held the inning together with 23 not out and will resume on Saturday as they try to get the lead.
