LUNCH: Pacers destroy CCC top order

Cave Hill, Barbados – Superb fast bowling by Jason Dawes and Andre Russell put Jamaica in full control over Combined Campuses & Colleges at lunch on the first day of the WICB First-class Final at the 3Ws Oval.

CCC were tottering on 36-5 at the break, after winning the toss and deciding to bat on a pitch which offered assistance to the bowlers. Dawes has so far taken 2-21 from seven overs and Russell has 3-11 from seven overs. The only batsman to reach double figures so far is Raymon Reifer. The tall left-hander is on 18 not out, including three well-timed boundaries through the on-side on one over from Dawes.

Operating from the North, Dawes made the early breakthrough when he bowled Romel Currency with a beautiful yorker. He later had Shacaya Thomas leg before to another perfect yorker. Russell also got into the act and had skipper Omar Phillips caught at mid-off from a skier. He also bowled Kyle Corbin and had Floyd Reifer plumb LBW in an inspired spell.

Play got started 45 minutes late due to a sharp shower shortly before the scheduled start.
