Shillingford named in Dominica squad

Roseau, Dominica, CMC –West Indies off-spinner Shane Shillingford is one of 17 players named by the Dominica Cricket Association to prepare for the Windward Islands Twenty20 Championship scheduled to be staged here later this month.

The tall, right-armer was found to have an illegal bowling action and was suspended form bowling in international cricket late last year. Shillingford, who has played five Tests, has been undergoing remedial work at the Sagicor High Performance Centre in Barbados.
Windward Islands captain Liam Sebastien has also been included in the unit, which has been trimmed from the original 26 called up. Also in the squad is former West Indies A team pacer Jean Paul as well as hard-hitting batsman, Vincent Casimir. Experienced fast bowler Mervin Matthew is out of the country and unavailable for selection.
The squad will be cut to 13 in time for the May 26-29 tournament.
