T&T made to struggle against HPC

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, CMC – Rain allowed just nine overs before forcing the abandonment of the Twenty20 encounter between Trinidad and Tobago and the Sagicor High Performance Centre at Queen’s Park Oval here Saturday.

Winning the toss and batting, T&T were struggling on 48-4 when heavy showers drove players from the field. A waterlogged outfield ruined any chance of a restart.

Kjorn Ottley fell without scoring, top-edging a pull off pacer Kevin McClean with the score on 1-1, and West Indies batsman Adrian Barath followed soon afterward for one with the score on 2-2, caught at short cover off fast bowler Shannon Gabriel.

William Perkins, who played a single T20 International three years ago against Australia, played a few strokes in 16 before pulling left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul to mid-wicket at 29-3, leaving T&T in further trouble.

Captain Daren Ganga then perished five runs later and West Indies playersKieron Pollard (eight not out) and Dwayne Bravo (five not out) were attempting a repair job when the weather intervened.
