Hughes helps Derbyshire to victory
Leeds, England, CMC – Leeward Islands batsman Chesney Hughes played a key role to help Derbyshire beat Yorkshire by 12 runs in the Friends Life Twenty20 Championship at Headingley.
The 20-year-old left-hander hit a patient 32 in a rebuilding effort as Derbyshire, opting to bat first, rattled up 152 for four off their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Yorkshire were limited to 140 for five with Hughes chipping in with a decent spell of one for 25 from his four overs of left-arm slow bowling.
Derbyshire found themselves 15 for two in the fourth over before being rescued by Hughes and Wayne Madsen, whose top score of 61 came from 48 balls. Hughes hit three fours off 37 balls before he was bowled by 20-year-old off-spinner Azeem Rafiq.
