Wins for Universal DVD Young Warriors, Police, Bermine and Upper Corentyne
GEORGETOWN, GUYANA - The Berbice Cricket Board Universal DVD-sponsored First Division T20 Cricket Competition commenced last Saturday with four first round matches. Universal DVD Young Warriors, Police, Bermine and Upper Corentyne were the victorious teams.

At Bush Lot in West Berbice, Young Warriors Universal DVD beat Bush Lot United Rising Star by 100 runs. Asked to bat first, Young Warriors Universal DVD reached 193 for 5 in 20 overs with Shimron Hetmyer topscoring with 83 (8×4, 2×6), Kevin Ramdeen, 24, and former Berbice batsman, Maxie DeJonge, 20.
Bush Lot United Rising Star in reply were bowled out for 93 in 18.4 overs. Brentnol Woolford (27) and Keith Fraser (24) were the only batsmen that showed some resistance. Bowling for Young Warriors, Hubern Evans claimed 5 for 14 from 3.4 overs, Karamchand Ramnarine, 2 for 14, and Kevin Ramdeen, 2 for 21.
At Port Mourant, the hosts lost to Police by seven wickets. Port Mourant, choosing to bat first, made 149 for 8 in 20 overs with Harrinarine Chattergoon hitting 57. Joshua Ramsammy supported with 46. Bowling for Police, Leon Andrews took 4 for 20 from three overs and Albert Sinclair supported with 2 for 17 from 3 overs. Police in reply reached 150 for 3 in 18 overs with Albert Sinclair topscoring with 78.
At Edinburg, Bermine defeated the host by two wickets. Edinburg, asked to bat first, were bowled out for 103 in 19 overs. Shawn Baksh (37) and Geeraish DeJees (16) were the main contributors with the bat.
Bowling for Bermine, Troy Mickle took 4 for 16, Romario DeJonge and Steven Latcha finished with 2 for 5 and 2 for 13 respectively. Bermine in reply reached 108 for 8 in 19 overs. Hakeem Hinds made 30, Stephen Latcha, 26, and Joemal LaFleur, 21.
At Number 69, Upper Corentyne beat Skeldon Community Centre by nine runs. Upper Corentyne, losing the toss and sent in to bat, made 145 for 7 in 20 overs with Ryan Ramdass hitting a topscore of 36. Bowling for Skeldon Community Centre Tameshwar Ramoutar took 3 for 33 from four overs.
Skeldon Community Centre in reply reached 136 in 19.5 overs with Jermain Reid (26) and Gajendra Nauth (18) being the principal scorers.
Bowling for Upper Corentyne, Lakeram Latchman took 3 for 26 from four overs, Deoprakash Ramdat had 3 for 18 from foutr overs and Naeem Yacoob 2 for 29 from four overs.
