Wins for Bim, Dominica, Jamaica, T&T

ST.GEORGE’S, Grenada - Aggressive middle order batsman Deandra Dottin roared to a century to hand Barbados their first win, a commanding 235 run victory over host Grenada in the second round of matches in the West Indies Women Super 50 Wednesday.

Dottin blasted her way to 103 runs as Barbados, who lost their opening match against Trinidad and Tobago by two wickets on Monday, amassed 303 runs for nine wickets at the La Sagesse playing field.

She put her typical power hitting on show by tearing into the Grenadian bowlers hitting eleven fours and three sixes while Pamela Levine, not to be left out, struck six boundaries in a supporting scored 55.

Dottin’s century was the second in the tournament after Guyana’s June Ogle’s unbeaten 104 in Guyana’s win over Dominica on Monday.

Afy Fletcher with three for 41 and Rackel Williams two for 69 were the pick of the local bowlers.

Danielle Small and Shaquana Quintyne destroyed the Grenadian batting as the host were all out for 67 runs.

Small grabbed four for 21 and Quintyne three for 20.

At Progress Park, Stefanie Taylor missed her century by four runs but lifted Jamaica to their second victory, a 102 run win over Guyana.

Taylor cracked 14 fours to reach 94 runs in 102 balls before Jamaica were dismissed for 233 runs.

Shemaine Campbelle was the top Guyana bowler with four for 34.

Guyana struggled particularly against the bowling of Taylor and Shanel Daley, as the chase petered out into a paltry 131 for nine in 50 overs.

None of the batsmen really got into full gear or were able to repair the damage to the innings caused by Taylor with three for 13 and Daley two for 17.

Tremayne Smart 29, Shemaine Campbelle 24, and Latoya Smith 25, were the top scorers for Guyana who suffered their first defeat.

The closest encounter unfolded at the Beausejour Playing Field where Dominica pulled off a narrow one wicket win over St.Lucia.

Heidi Sandiford was the bright spark for St.Lucia who were bowled out for 169 runs in 36,1 overs.

Sandiford was unbeaten on 41 from 42 balls after hitting six fours.

Paulina Francis contributed 28.

Anika Benjamin and Krisani Irish were the key architects responsible for the demise of the St. Lucian innings with three for 27 and three for 28.

Dominica’s run chase was built on responsible knocks from Pearl Ettienne and Gem Eloi as bowlers Nicole St. Prix and Sadisha Elizee threatened to derail their effort.

Ettienne hit the top score of 52 with ten fours while Eloi scored 45 as Dominica scraped through to surpass the target reaching 172  for nine in 42.3 overs.

St.Prix bagged five wickets for 36 runs while Elizee three for 27.

Meantime, Trinidad and Tobago coasted to an eight wicket win over St.Vincent and the Grenadines at the Tanteen playing field.

The Vincentians were bowled out for 12 in 41.4 overs despite a half century from Juliana Nero.

Nero smashed three fours to reach 54 while Cordell Jack added 25 before she was run out by Captain Merissa Aguilleria.

B Cooper cracked four fours and was not out on 61 while Amanda Samaroo scored 33 as Trinidad and Tobago cruised to 125 for two. By CMC
