Winning start for champs Grenada
KINGSTOWN, St Vincent – Defending champions Grenada steamrolled St. Lucia by 59 runs in their opening match of the Windward Islands Under 15 Tournament in St Vincent and the Grenadines on Wednesday.
Grenada piled up 191 all out from 43.3 overs before restricting the St.Lucians to 132 all out in 36.4 overs.
The Grenadians’ innings were built around a skipper’s knock of 81 from Emmanuel Stewart, the first sportsman from Carriacou to captain a national team at any level.
Narun Singh took 3 for 20, Johann Jeremiah 2 for 7 and Calvin Blache 2 for 32 were the main wicket takers for the spice isle.
Grenada will next play Dominica on Thursday at the Arnos Vale Ground.
The Dominicans defeated St Vincent and the Grenadines by seven wickets in the other match played on Wednesday.
St Vincent made 135 all out and Dominica replied with 136 for 3.
