WIslds take 1st inns, CCC fightback

CAVE HILL, Barbados, CMC – Nkrumah Bonner and Ryan Austin shared four wickets to lead a fight-back for Combined Campuses & Colleges, after Windward Islands collected first innings points in the WICB Regional first-class championship on Friday.

Leg-spinner Bonner captured two wickets for 14 runs from five overs, and off-spinner Austin took two for 52 from 15 overs, as Windward Islands, replying to CCC’s first innings total of 131, reached 145 for seven at the close on the opening day of their first round match at the Three Ws Oval.

Windward Islands have secured first innings points and lead Combined Campuses and Colleges by 14 runs on their opening encounter in the WICB Regional 4 Day Tournament at the 3 Ws Oval in Barbados.

Windwards closed on 145 for 7 after dismissing CCC for a paltry 131 as 17 wickets tumbled on the first day when batsmen, fresh out of the Caribbean Twenty20, demonstrated that they have not broken out of the crash, bang mode.

WICB 4 Day: Lunch: Day 1, Round 1

After winning the toss and opting to bowl, Guyana held Jamaica to 64 for 3 by lunch on day one of the WICB Regional 4 Day Tournament at Alpart in Jamaica. Opening bowlers Esuan Crandon and Brandon Bess along with leg spinner Devendra Bishoo each picked up a wicket as the Guyanese had a successful first session.

The not out batsmen are Brendan Nash who is on 13 and captain Tamar Lambert on 5 as 25 overs have been delivered.

Jamaica suffered major set backs when they lost the in form Marlon Samuels for 13, Danza Hyatt for 3 and Simon Jackson for 26.
