Windies girls win to reach Final

Fatullah, Bangladesh, CMC – West Indies sustained their impressive showing in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier with a 58-run win over Sri Lanka here on Thursday as they romped to the final for an appointment with Pakistan.

In recording their fifth win in as many matches, West Indies again batted solidly and bowled with discipline at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium.

After winning the toss on what was described as a good pitch, West Indies made a challenging 235 for five off their 50 overs and then restricted the Sri Lankans to 177-7.

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has congratulated the West Indies Women’s Team on reaching the International Cricket Council’s Women’s World Cup 2013.

The Windies have so far played unbeaten in the qualifying tournament in Dhaka, Bangladesh – winning all four of their preliminary matches.

Windies' Girls eye overall title

DHAKA, Bangladesh, CMC – Already qualified for the 2013 World Cup after winning their fourth straight Group game on Sunday, West Indies Women have now switched their focus to capturing the ICC qualifying tournament.

The Caribbean side trounced hosts Bangladesh by 80 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, to follow up wins against Ireland, Pakistan and Japan in their previous matches.

Women's captains speak on HIV/AIDS

Dhaka, Bangladesh -- The female captains of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies and South Africa today visited centre for persons living with HIV and AIDS in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Salma Khatun, Dilani Manodara, Sana Mir, Merissa Aguilleira and Mignon du Preez met with women and children who are either suffering or are affected by HIV and AIDS at a specialist centre run by UNICEF and works in conjunction with UNAIDS, the ICC’s official partner in the global fight against HIV and AIDS.
