Greaves, Hodge cannot save West Indies Under-19 from defeat

Visakhaptnam, India, CMC – Justin Greaves top-scored with 90 and Kavem Hodge made 80 not out, but West Indies Under-19s were beaten by Sri Lanka Under-19s by two wickets in the quadrangular Under-19 One-Day International Series on Monday.

Under-19s fall to India

Visakhapatnam, India, CMC – Young West Indies lost their third straight game in the four-nation Under-19 series, when they suffered a convincing 124-run drubbing at the hands of India.

Chasing a challenging 316 for victory, the Caribbean lads were never up for the fight and crumbled to 191 all out off 43.5 overs at the Port Trust Diamond Jubilee Stadium on Saturday. The defeat followed those to Sri Lanka and Australia earlier in the week.

Walsh enjoying new role

Visakhapatnam, India – West Indies legend Courtney Walsh is enjoying his newest role in West Indies cricket. The former Jamaica and West Indies captain is the Team Manager of the West Indies Under-19 team, presently in India for a four-nation 50 Over tournament. Walsh outlined that he is on tour to deal with the organisation and administration of the team but also on hand to share some of his vast knowledge of the game and experience to the young players.

Windies Under 19 depart for India

Bridgetown, Barbados– The West Indies Under 19 team will depart from Barbados on Wednesday evening for India, where they will take on India Under 19, Sri Lanka Under 19 and Australia Under 19 in a 50 Over series. The matches will be played from September 27 to October 9 and will be used as preparations for the International Cricket Council’s Under 19 World Cup, to be played in Australia in August 2012.
