Best of Hemraj keeps Guyana tops

FOURSQUARE, Barbados, CMC – Led by an unbeaten century from Chandrapaul Hemraj, Guyana eased to a comfortable 40-run win over Barbados to continue at the top of the standings in the Regional Under-19 one-day Championship here Saturday.

Playing at Foursquare Oval, the left-handed Hemraj scored an even 100 to help lead his team to 237 for nine off 50 overs. They then restricted Barbados to 197 for nine with captain Shai Hope getting 45.

Classy Gayle stars in Jamaica win

WILDEY, Barbados, CMC –Middle-order batsman Bryan Gayle stroked a sparkling century as Jamaica registered a two-wicket win over Trinidad and Tobago with four balls to spare, in round five of the WICB Regional Under-19 one-day Championship on Saturday.

Set 218 for victory at the Banks Sports Club, Jamaica recovered from the great peril of 53 for five to reach 218 for eight in the last over, with Gayle getting a superb 104.

Bridgetown, Barbados — There was no play in the fourth round of matches in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Under-19 50-over tournament on Thursday due to heavy rain. The inclement weather associated with Tropical Storm Isaac continued on Wednesday night and Thursday morning which left all the grounds waterlogged.
