Jamaican Michael Muirhead appointed new WICB CEO

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board today announced that accomplished management consultant Michael Muirhead has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of the regional governing body.

The Board of Directors approved Mr. Muirhead’s appointment at a meeting in Barbados at the weekend. Mr. Muirhead’s appointment is for three years.

WICB thanks Dr Hilaire for service

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board at a meeting of the Board of Directors at the weekend formally thanked the departing Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ernest Hilaire for his service to West Indies cricket.

Dr. Hilaire, after serving the full term of his thee year contract, is preparing to demit office at the end of September.

WICB full of praise for Under-19s

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC-President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Julian Hunte has lauded the quality of the just ended WICB Under-19 tournament and says the future of the sport in the region is bright.

The WICB President says he was also impressed by the number of centuries scored as well as the emergence of a number of young fast bowlers.

Shai Hope of Barbados recorded four centuries while Jeremy Solozano of Trinidad and Tobago scored two.

CHAMPIONS - Windwards

Bridgetown, Barbados — Windward Islands are the champions of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Under-19 50-over tournament. A purposeful bowling effort backed by a solid batting performance saw them achieve a remarkable victory over Leeward Islands by six wickets to win their seventh round match on Wednesday.

West Indies Under-19 back home

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC - West Indies Under-19 captain Kraigg Braithwaite says his team performed well despite its failure to capture the International Cricket Council Under-19 World Cup.

Of the ten matches played the young West Indies lost two in the just ended 14 team tournament in Australia.

Braithwaite’s side won a series of matches in the preliminary round until the quarter final stage when they were first beaten by New Zealand and then England.
