Leewards get upperhand over Windwards

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Leewards Islands took first innings lead over Windward Islands as their third match in the WICB Regional Under-19 three-Championship petered out into a tame draw at the Desmond Haynes Oval on Wednesday.

After Tuesday’s complete washout, play got started at 11 am and the Windwards resuming on 25 without loss, were bundled out for 147.

Bridgetown, Barbados, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago held the stronger hand but Guyana kept their fortunes afloat on the second day of their WICB Regional Under-19 three-day Championship match on Tuesday.

Already comfortably placed at 313 for five on resumption, T&T extended their first innings by a further 11.1 overs, adding 62 runs for the loss two wickets before declaring 35 minutes ahead of lunch on 375 for seven.

Guyana have so far replied with 180 for four and enter Wednesday’s final day still 195 runs behind on first innings.

Thomas stands out with classy 91

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Aldaine Thomas narrowly missed out on three figures despite playing superbly but his innings put Jamaica in an excellent position to force and outright win over Barbados on Wednesday’s final day of the third round of matches in the Regional Under-19 three-day Championship.

Windies ready to take Under-19 World Cup

Brisbane, Australia - Third seed West Indies and two-time former champion and number-six seed India are odds-on favourites to qualify for the Super League stage from Group C of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012, which will be staged from 11 to 26 August in Queensland, Australia.

Apart from the two powerhouses of cricket, Zimbabwe and Papua New Guinea are the other two sides in the group whose matches will be played in Townsville.
