Gibson preaches calm for showdown

DHAKA, Bangladesh – West Indies Head Coach Ottis Gibson has backed his team to conquer Pakistan in the upcoming all-important ICC World T20 match on Tuesday night at the Sher-e-Bangla. Both teams are on four points from three matches – two wins and one defeat – and the winner of the contest will qualify for the semi-finals.

Speaking ahead of the match Gibson said the key is to stay calm and make clear decisions in this crucial encounter. First ball is 730pm (930am Eastern Caribbean Time/830am Jamaica Time).

Saqlain: Windies in my heart

DHAKA, Bangladesh -- Saqlain Mushtaq, the legendary Pakistani off-spinner, will face his own country when West Indies take on Pakistan in the ICC World T20 2014 on Tuesday. Saqlain is West Indies’ spin bowling coach and said that he wears the West Indies logo on his heart and hopes his team crosses the line tomorrow. The winner of Tuesday night’s game will then take the second spot in the Group 2 of the Super 10s, making their way into the semi-final.

Williams hails Sammy special

DHAKA, Bangladesh –Assistant Coach Stuart Williams hailed the West Indies amazing win over Australia on Friday as “something very special” and said it was the perfect tonic as they prepare for their final preliminary match.

Led by a superb knock of 34 not out off 13 balls from skipper Darren Sammy, the Windies made 179-4 to beat the Aussies in a thrilling contest at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. It was the second victory for the world champions and they will face Pakistan in their final preliminary match on Tuesday – the winners will qualify for the semi-finals.
