TOSS - India bat in 2nd Test

KOLKATA, INDIA – TOSS – As the curtain rises on the 2nd Test match between hosts India and the West Indies; India won the toss and elected to bat first this morning at Eden Gardens.

Windies upbeat ahead of 2nd Test

Kolkata, India — West Indies batsmen have been urged to be positive but not reckless when they face India in the second Test match at Eden Gardens which bowls off on Monday.

The batsmen have been told “not to go into a shell” while the bowlers have been asked to “maintain the good work and strive for better” as they look for that all important “tick” in the win column and draw level in the three-match series.

Ishant happy to be "leader"

Kolkata, India -- India’s Ishant Sharma is relishing the task of leading his team’s pace attack against West Indies in the upcoming second Test match against West Indies in the absence of the injured Zaheer Khan.

The 23-year-old Ishant said: “It’s an honour when you see yourselves as the senior-most bowler in the team and leading the attack. It’s difficult to express this kind of feeling actually.”

Barath ready if called upon

KOLKATA, India,  CMC – Adrian Barath says he is recovered from the hamstring injury that sidelined him for the two Tests against Bangladesh last month and is keen on resuming his place at the top of the order in the second Test against India at Eden Garden starting here Monday.

The talented 21-year-old has struggled with injury over the last year and has played just seven Tests since making a spectacular debut two years ago with a hundred against Australia.

Windies spread message to help “Bowl Out Polio”

Kolkata, India - The West Indies team has come out to support the ongoing polio eradication drive in India called “Bowl Out Polio”. On Sunday members of the team took time out from their busy training schedule ahead of the Second Test match to join local officials to participate in the programme.

The event was organised by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and took centre stage at the historic Eden Gardens ground, venue for the match which starts on Monday.
