Sagicor HPC players show tremendous growth

Bridgetown, Barbados – In April, 2010 15 young men stood before an audience and were introduced as the first intake of the Sagicor High Performance Centre of West Indies Cricket. They came from all across the Caribbean, came from varying backgrounds, and different skill levels.

Bajan bowler gets Under-15 top award

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, CMC – Barbadian Chad Williams was voted one of six Most Valuable Players and also picked up the award for the Most Outstanding Bowler, following the West Indies Cricket Board’s Under-15 Championship which finished Friday.

Butts: Thumbs up to captain Sammy

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, CMC – Chairman of the West Indies selection panel Clyde Butts has given Darren Sammy’s leadership a stamp of approval and has hinted that he is likely to continue as captain for the proposed tours of Bangladesh and India later this year. Sammy was appointed in the role last November, ahead of the tour of Sri Lanka.

Pakistan Women to tour Caribbean next month

St John’s, Antigua – World rated players Stafanie Taylor, Deandra Dottin and Anisa Mohammed will be back in action for the Windies Women as the Pakistan Women’s team will next month embark on an eight match tour of the Caribbean. The tour will start on August 28 in St Vincent and conclude on September 11 in Guyana. In another first for regional women’s cricket, Guyana will host the inaugural international day/night women’s match in the Caribbean.

India coach hails Windies good showing under Gibson

Bridgetown, Barbados, CMC – India coach Duncan Fletcher has praised the development of the West Indies team under new coach Ottis Gibson.

His praise came in the wake of India’s 1-0 win over the hosts in the three-match series which concluded with a drawn game at Windsor Park in Dominica on Sunday.
