Champs name strong team for CT20

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC -- Trinidad & Tobago have named a strong 14-man squad for the defence of their title in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 tournament.

The T&T Cricket Board announced the 14-member squad on Thursday under the leadership of West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Denesh Ramdin. Former captain Daren Ganga has been dropped from the team to take part in the event, beginning on January 9 in Antigua.

Windwards pick new boy Carmichael for CT20

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, CMC -- Tade Carmichael is the only newcomer in the Windward Islands squad for next month’s West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament.

Carmichael was one of the outstanding players in the Windwards Islands Twenty20 competition and also played in the Under-19s for the sub-regional side.

David Williams named T&T selector

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, CMC -- West Indies Assistant Coach David Williams has been made a senior national selector.

The 48-year-old Williams, a former T&T captain and West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman, replaces former T&T captain and West Indies off-spinner Ranjie Nanan.
President of the T&T Cricket Board Azim Bassarath explained the decision came about when Nanan decided he no longer had the time to visit matches as mandated by the T&TCB.

Richardson: Sehwag was exceptional

Indore, India — West Indies Team Manager Richie Richardson has termed Virender Sehwag's historic 219 as an “exceptional knock”.

Sehwag became just the second man in history to score 200 in an ODI and made a world-record against the West Indies on Thursday night at the Holkar Cricket Stadium as India won the fourth ODI to take a 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

Sehwag special sinks Windies

Indore, India — Virender Sehwag blasted the highest individual score in the history of One-Day Internationals to secure India a big 153-run series-clinching victory over West Indies in the fourth ODI on Thursday night.

The crowd at the Holkar Cricket Stadium witnessed two milestones as Sehwag’s breath-taking 219 off 149 balls. He smashed seven sixes and 25 fours to power the home side to 418-5, their highest ever ODI total.
