Bishoo cops ICC Emerging Player Award

Up-and-coming West Indies leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo has been named as the Emerging Player of the Year 2011 at the LG ICC Awards in London. The 25-year-old, who played in five Test matches in the voting period and took 21 wickets with an average of 35.42, has made an impact within the West Indies side with his attacking approach that yields considerable turn and bounce. He also played in 11 ODIs, bagging 19 wickets at an average of 21.57. Bishoo was the top choice of the 25-person voting academy, coming in ahead of team-mate Darren Bravo, and Pakistan pair of Wahab Riaz and Azhar Ali.

Daley seals deal as Windies win Super Over to clinch T20 Series

Georgetown, Guyana – CMC – Shanel Daley bowled tightly, and West Indies Women won a one-over eliminator, after her useful all-round performance earned them a tie in regulation time in the fourth and final Twenty20 International against Pakistan Women on Sunday night.

Defending a moderate 115 to take a 3-0 lead in the four-match series, West Indies were undone by a superb 83-run fifth wicket stand between Bismah Maroof (43 not out) and Javeria Khan (37) and lost with 15 balls to spare.

Lett & Hosein named in Windies U19 squad for India tour

St John’s, Antigua – Emmanuel Lett and Akeal Hosein have been named by the West Indies Cricket Board Selection Committee as part of a powerful 15 man West Indies Under 19 squad for the quadrangular in India.
