Dottin breaks into ICC Top10

Dhaka, Bangladesh -- West Indies’ Deandra Dottin has broken into the top ten of the Reliance ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings for batters for the first time after the 20-year-old from Barbados scored a career-best 95 against Pakistan in the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2011 (WWCQ) at Mirpur on Saturday.

Dottin is now occupying seventh place in the table, which is topped by India’s Mithali Raj, but team-mate Stafanie Taylor is fast closing in on Mithali’s position.

Aguilleira: We can win 2013 World Cup

Dhaka, Bangladesh, CMC – A thrilled West Indies Women’s captain Merissa Aguilleira said on Saturday she was pleased with the way her side had executed in playing unbeaten to win the ICC Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament.

They beat Pakistan Women by 130 runs in the final on Saturday, a victory that saw them move to fifth in the International Cricket Council rankings.

“It is truly fantastic to walk away with the tournament trophy, to be undefeated at that, and to also know we have improved on the global rankings,” Aguilleira said.

Sammy: Oh what a day!

Mumbai, India – West Indies captain Darren Sammy has rued his side’s missed chance in the third and final Test against India here Saturday but said he was buoyed by their fighting spirit in earning a draw.

West Indies managed to secure a dramatic stalemate on the final day of the contest at the Wankhede Stadium, after limiting India to two of the three runs they needed off the tense last over.

Mumbai, India -- West Indies captain Darren Sammy has suggested that the drama which unfolded on the final day of the third Test against India had been a “great advert” for the longest form of the game.

The match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai came down to the final ball with India, who were eight down in their second innings, needing two runs to seal a series sweep.

Dhaka, Bangladesh -- West Indies were crowned as champions of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, after defeating Pakistan by 130 runs on Saturday.

By virtue of winning the tournament, West Indies have risen in the Reliance ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings – West Indies now sit fifth in the world while Pakistan has risen from eighth to now occupy sixth place.
