Irfan Pathan joins India squad

Indore, India — All-rounder Irfan Pathan has been drafted into the India squad for their two remaining One-Day Internationals against West Indies in place of pacer Umesh Yadav, who will leave for Australia early to get acclimatised for an upcoming tour.

Yadav will be among seven Indian cricketers leaving on Thursday for Australia for the four-Test series, starting at the MCG in Melbourne on December 26.

Rampaul stars with 4; Windies win by 16

Ahmedabad, India — Fast bowler Ravi Rampaul took a superb four-wicket haul as West Indies ended India's 11-game winning streak at home with a 16-run victory in the third One-Day International on Monday to keep the series alive.

The rampaging Rampaul took 4-57 to help bowl out India for 244 in 46.5 overs in reply to West Indies’ total of 260-5 at Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium. It was the hosts' first ODI loss at home since going down to South Africa in the group stage of the World Cup in March.

Sammy, Russell lift WI to 260-5

Ahmedabad, India — West Indies captain Darren Sammy and allrounder Andre Russell put together a 79-run unbroken stand Monday that propelled the score against India to 260-5 in the third One-Day International.

Sammy clobbered 41 off 17 balls with five fours and two massive back-to-back sixes off Abhimanyu Mithun at the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium. Russell smashed 40 off 18 with four fours and two sixes as the Windies scored a whopping 79 from just 34 balls in the final overs.

Gibson backs Windies to come good

Ahmedabad, India — West Indies might be 0-2 down in the five-match One-Day International Series against India but Head Coach Ottis Gibson takes solace from the fact that his team has put up a brave fight against the world champions.

Record-breaker Rampaul thinking 'big'

Visakhapatnam, India — Ravi Rampaul played the innings of a lifetime in the second ODI against India on Friday night and following his heroics, the 27-year-old is looking for more consistent performances.

Rampaul entered the record books with a superb unbeaten 86 off just 66 balls in an action-packed hour of power-hitting at the Dr Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium.

He indicated he is looking to put together more “important performances” with his left-handed batting and right-arm fast bowling to improve his “allround game”.
