WICB outlines position to Guyana's Minister of Sport

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board today wrote to the Minister of Sport of Guyana, Dr. Frank Anthony in response to a letter from the Minister to the WICB on January 4th.

The WICB outlined to Minister Anthony that it strongly desires to have the Guyana team participate in the Caribbean Twenty20 Tournament starting on Monday January 9th in Antigua.

Ramdin wants to lead from the front

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad – Trinidad and Tobago captain Denesh Ramdin is hoping to lead from the front when he takes the team into battle in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 tournament, to be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua and Kensington Oval in Barbados from January 9 to 22.

Ramdin has taken over from Daren Ganga and is in charge of a T&T side which is full of confidence. Ramdin, who will turn 27 in March, says he is looking to continue the good work of Ganga.

Smith sizzles as Bajans beat T&T

Bridgetown, Barbados -- Barbados opening batsman Dwayne Smith had his second match-winning performance in as many matches to lead his team to a thrilling four-wicket win over Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday night.

The power-hitter, who has successfully switched from the middle-order, made a boundary-studded 68 off 54 balls as the Bajans won off the last ball in Game 4 of the UWI Cave Hill Campus T20 Cricket Festival.

Ottley grabs hat-trick but CCC fall

Bridgetown, Barbados -- A superb hat-trick by CCC’s left-arm spinner Yannic Ottley was the highlight of Game 3 of the UWI Cave Hill Campus T20 Cricket Festival on Wednesday night.

It was however topped by a brilliant allround effort by Shane Ramsey as the CO Williams All Stars beat the home team by 41 runs at the 3Ws Oval.

Caribbean's first lady of cricket

You do not have to be a cricket fan to be proud of the fact that Merissa Ria Aguilleira, is the captain of the Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies women's cricket teams. The charming 26-year-old has risen through the cricketing ranks from 2002, becoming a member of the T&T senior team in 2005 (captain from 2007) and the West Indies team in 2008 (captain from 2009).
