ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – A confident West Indies will chase their first series win against New Zealand in over a decade when the first Test bowls off here on Wednesday.

The hosts have not won a series against the Black Caps since 1996 but on the evidence of the preceding Twenty20 and One-Day Internationals results, believe they are on the brink of changing that record.

West Indies swept the Twenty20 doubleheader in Florida before whipping the Kiwis 4-1 in the five-match one-day series, in a convincing display with both bat and ball.

Shillingford takes 5-77 as NZ hold on

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Off-spinner Shane Shillingford was superb as he captured a five-wicket haul for the West Indies Cricket Board’s President’s XI on the final day of the three-day match against New Zealand on Sunday.

The tall Dominican bowled brilliantly to take five for 77 to put the President’s XI on the brink of victory at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground before the Kiwis held on to a draw as they finished on 181 for eight in their second innings.

WI squad for first Digicel Test against NZ

St. John’s, Antigua – The Selection Committee of the West Indies Cricket Board today announced the 13-member West Indies squad for the first Digicel Test against New Zealand, starting on Wednesday at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground.
