Darren Bravo hits classy 80 but Windies lose crucial wickets

Colombo, Sri Lanka – Darren Bravo made a brilliant 80 but fell shortly before the close as Sri Lanka gained the upperhand over West Indies on the third day of the 2nd ERI Test match at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on Thursday. The polished left-hander played some superb shots – hitting six boundaries and four straight sixes – but was the second wicket for part-time off-spinner T.M. Dilshan at a crucial stage in the match.

West Indies A make late inroads after Manzoor ton

Arnos Vale, St Vincet - Opener Khurram Manzoor’s century took Pakistan A to 239 for 7 at the end of the first day’s play of the Second Digicel ‘Test’ against West Indies A at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex.

Manzoor scored 104 off 209 balls and hit 16 fours in his innings which lasted just over five hours. He received support from fellow opener Umair Khan who struck 41 as left arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul topped the bowling charts with 3 for 56 from 24 overs.

Sangakkara tons up as Lanka progress on rain hit day

Colombo, Sri Lanka - Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara stroked his 24th career ton as Sri Lanka moved to 294 for 5 at the end of the second day of the Second ERI Test at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Resuming on 84 for 3, Sangakkara and Thilan Samaraweera put on 170 for the 4th wicket before Samaraweera fell for a well played 80 from 170 balls with eight fours and a six.

Roach keeping it straight and fast

Colombo, Sri Lanka – West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach is working hard and the hard work is paying off. The 22-year-old bowled a superb new ball spell which rocked the Sri Lanka top order on the opening day of the 2nd ERI Test at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, on Tuesday. The home side closed the day on 84-3 off 37.2 overs on a day cut short by rain and bad light.

West Indies rock Lankan top order on gloomy day

Colombo, Sri Lanka - Bad light robbed the opening day of the second ERI Test at the R Premadasa Stadium of 62.4 overs of play as West Indies rocked the Sri Lankan top order to reduce them to 34 for 3.

By the time bad light stopped play Sri Lanka had made a recovery, adding another 50 runs without any further loss to be 84 for 3.

Kemar Roach removed the two openers – Tharanga Paranavitana for 16 and Tillakeratne Dilshan for 4 – to leave the home team staggering at 31 for 2.
