Cricket unites for people living with HIV and AIDS on World AIDS Day

Kandy, Sri Lanka – Players and match officials will wear red ribbons in the ODI matches being played on Wednesday between Sri Lanka and West Indies; Bangladesh and Zimbabwe; and India vs New Zealand and, as well as on the opening day of the Ashes Test match between Australia and England on Friday. Further activities are also being held in South Africa.

In addition, Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan will travel to Papua New Guinea this week to help take part in a variety of education and fundraising activities promoting World AIDS Day.

ICC Chief Executives? Committee to discuss FTP

Dubai – The ICC Chief Executives’ Committee (CEC) will meet for its next quarterly meeting in Dubai on Tuesday. The main objective is to consider the new Future Tours Programme Agreement (2012-2020) and the accompanying league rules.

The Chief Executives and their respective FTP managers will work towards implementing the new FTP and the Test and ODI leagues. Following the CEC recommendations in September, the new international cricket structure was approved by the ICC Executive Board in October.

Kirk Edwards gets maiden call up to West Indies

St John's, Antigua - Barbadian batsman Kirk Edwards has received a maiden call up to the West Indies squad for the five match One Day International Series and T20 International against Sri Lanka.

The right handed Edwards is one of four players who will join the squad presently playing in the three match Test Series.

All rounder Kieron Pollard, left arm spinner Nikita Miller and fast bowler Ravi Rampaul along with Edwards will replace left hander Brendan Nash, wicketkeeper Devon Thomas, pacer Nelon Pascal and off spinner Shane Shillingford.

Kandy, Sri Lanka – After the 2nd Test match where the West Indies earned a draw at the R Premadasa International Stadium, West Indies captain Darren Sammy reflected on the team's effort and also looked ahead to the third and decisive Test, which bowls off at the new Pallekele Stadium in Kandy on Wednesday. First ball is 10 am Wednesday (12.30 am Eastern Caribbean Time/11.30 pm Tuesday Jamaica Time).

Baugh hits 50 as 2nd Test ends in a draw

Colombo, Sri Lanka – The 2nd ERI Test between West Indies and Sri Lanka ended in a predictable draw on Saturday as over 200 overs were lost to rain and bad light. The first three days were all cut short, the fourth day was completely washed out and the fifth day got started after lunch.
