WI bowl first in 2nd ODI


PERTH, Australia, – West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl first against Australia in the 2nd One-Day International at the WACA Ground in Perth, Western Australia on Sunday. The West Indies named an unchanged team while the Aussies also used the same starting XI from Friday’s series-opener.

Australia lead the five-match series 1-0 following their victory by 9 wickets.



Gibson: WI will bring positive approach

PERTH, Australia, CMC – West Indies coach Ottis Gibson says there was no need to press the panic button despite watching his side get routed by Australia for their third lowest total in One-Day Internationals here last Friday.

Opting to bat first at the WACA Ground, the Windies were rolled over for 70 in seamer-friendly conditions with only three batsmen making it into double figures but none making it to 20.

The game ended in just over three hours with a nine-wicket defeat for the Caribbean side.

Big Boy Holder shows his mettle

PERTH, Australia, CMC - West Indies fast bowling allrounder Jason Holder says he was not daunted by a delayed decision before his first wicket was secured on his One Day International debut Friday.

Holder, the lone wicket taker as West Indies lost to Australia by nine wickets, says he heard the noise as Aaron Finch swung his bat outside the off stump.

The Decision Review System (DRS) was called into service amid a moment of doubt after the on field umpire turned down the players’ appeal.
