Gustard, Smith look to make right calls

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Umpires Patrick Gustard and Verdayne Smith said they were both elated to be elevated to the West Indies Cricket Board’s Senior Umpires Panel.

The directors of the WICB approved the recommendations of its Umpires and Match Referees Committee for six promotions to the senior umpires’ panel, when they held their last meeting in Barbados a fortnight ago.

The umpires elevated were Gustard, Smith, Zahid Bassarath, Leslie Reifer Jr, Danesh Ramdhanie and Nandkumar Shivsankar.

WICB launches Player Lifestyle

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board has launched classroom sessions as part of its ongoing roll out of the Board’s Player Lifestyle Development (PLD) Programme.

Jamaican Michael Muirhead appointed new WICB CEO

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board today announced that accomplished management consultant Michael Muirhead has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of the regional governing body.

The Board of Directors approved Mr. Muirhead’s appointment at a meeting in Barbados at the weekend. Mr. Muirhead’s appointment is for three years.

WICB thanks Dr Hilaire for service

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board at a meeting of the Board of Directors at the weekend formally thanked the departing Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ernest Hilaire for his service to West Indies cricket.

Dr. Hilaire, after serving the full term of his thee year contract, is preparing to demit office at the end of September.

WICB completes 2nd Medical

Bridgetown, Barbados – The West Indies Cricket Board successfully completed the hosting of its second annual Medical Conference over the weekend in Barbados.

The WICB Medical Conference was inaugurated in 2011. The debut conference was also held in Barbados. The WICB Medical Panel was formed out of the inaugural conference in 2011.
