WICB charts way forward 2014 and beyond
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - The West Indies Cricket Board will soon concretize and unveil its ‘game-plan’ to ensure the continued growth and survival of the most popular sport in the region.
This was said by Michael Muirhead, the Chief Executive Officer as the WICB prepares to stage what will be a full regional and international season for 2014.
Speaking at a media conference at Kensington Oval to announce a new sponsorship deal with Banks Holdings Limited for the upcoming limited overs series against England, Muirhead said the board was cognizant of the West Indies team’s challenges and would be proactive in addressing them.
“It is crystal clear that we didn’t do as well as we would have wanted to over the past few series but what it has done is it has brought a further sense of realization to us that something has to be done, and in this regard we are going to be debriefing the team members when they come. By team, I mean the management team and the captains,” he told reporters.
“We have a series of plans that we are putting in place to ensure that West Indies cricket will thrive and survive in years to come. And it cannot only be at the elite level; it is the developmental level that we have to be treating with much of what we have to do.”
