T&T were dismissed for 83 in the Super50 final, with Jamaica replying with 86 for three.
Speaking about the loss to the Jamaicans, the T&T coach said: “It is obvious we fell short in our batting performance. We were not able to put up a good score to defend, and it was difficult to defend a score of 83 against an excellent batting team.
Looking ahead to the T20, Thomas insisted that their batting will have to click for them to have any chance in the competition, but also noted that the team’s confidence in still high, knowing that it is different version of the game they will be playing.
She said: “We will have to start with our batting performance, which failed us terrible. But the T20 is an entirely different version of the game. The team’s spirits are still high, although we have lost that game.
“They are feeling good about the fact that we have another format of the game in which we can redeem ourselves.
“It is not over until it is over. There are two trophies. We have lost one and we are really looking forward to better performances, so we can at least win one of the trophies,” Thomas added.
