Bridgetown, Barbados - Undermined by a five-wicket haul from left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican, St. Joseph Titans became the first team to be knocked out of the 2013 UWI CO Williams Inter-Parish Twenty20 tournament after losing by 59 runs to St. Michael Merchants.

In what was their second match and the fifth of the 12-team competition at 3Ws Oval on Thursday night, St. Joseph were again let down by their batting following a 76-run defeat against St. John Crusaders in the opening match last Friday.

Set 134 to win in 20 overs, the Titans crashed to 74 all out in 14.2 overs.

The 21-year-old Warrican, a former West Indies Under-19 team representative, who has played a couple first-class matches for Barbados, had the honour of recording the first 'five-for' of the championship. He finished with five for 11 off 3.2 overs.

Barbados and West Indies 'A' team fast bowler Miguel Cummins, who caused the early problems, picked up two for 15 off three overs.

Dominica and Windward Islands opener Tyrone Theophile, a member of the Sagicor West Indies High Performance Centre (HPC), topscored with 17. Cyprian Payne (14) and Renaldo Holder (ten) were the only batsmen to reach double-figures.

St. Michael Merchants, showing off six players with first-class experience, were bowled out for 133 in 19.5 overs after winning the toss.

Kevin Stoute, the Barbados and former West Indies 'A' team batting all-rounder, topscored with 38 off 39 balls without hitting a boundary at No. 5 before he was bowled by Stephen Payne.

National openers Rashidi Boucher and Kraigg Brathwaite both scored 26 after putting on 47 for the first wicket.

Boucher faced 20 balls and struck two fours and one six, while Brathwaite, who is also a West Indies Test and 'A' team player as well as a member of the HPC, hit one six in a 23-ball knock.
