Three-way tie in Tobago cricket

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD - Three teams are in a close battle for top honours in the Tobago Cricket Association Two Day League after the completion of matches over the past weekend.

The teams are C&B United who are leading the way with 123 points, second place Sport Elite with 105 points and Club Crusoe on 101 points.

C&B United has one remaining game against Club Crusoe next weekend and an outright victory by either team will help both their chances.

However they will have to wait on the outcomes of the other games.

Club Crusoe’s final game is against Sport Elite on April 27 and 28. Before that however Sport Elite will do battle with Goodwood this weekend where they will be hoping for maximum points to maintain a chance of claiming the title.

Goodwood will have other ideas and will be looking to spoil any premature celebrations by Sport Elite as they themselves seek to finish the season on a positive note.

Goodwood is currently on 63 points and in sixth of the eight- team standing. They have two more game in hand.

Meanwhile the three leading teams all secured comprehensive wins this weekend as they move closer to the end of the season and the title. Club Crusoe humbled Airport Authority by an innings and 105 runs before tea on the second day at the Shaw Park Recreation Ground, Scarborough.

Left arm under-19 pacer Brian Nurse demolished the Airport Authority batting to finish with his best bowling figures of eight wickets for 13 runs in only the first innings. And later Nurse picked up the bat and easily got to 61 runs.

The result pushed Airport Authority into fifth position on 68 points with a single game remaining.

Charlotteville finished their season at the bottom of the table on 61 points and winless as they suffered yet another loss on their home ground, this time to Sport Elite. Antonio Providence knock of 119 paved the way for an easy win for Sport Elite over Charlotteville.

At Canaan/ Bon Accord recreation Ground, C&B United’s left arm spinner Jamie Boyce recorded another 10 wicket haul that allowed C&B to register a comfortable 85 run win over newcomers Avengers, currently in fourth position with two more game to play.

Boyce ended with match figures of 13 for 115 to take his wickets tally for the season to 59.

The final team in the table is Georgia which has 60 points and two games to be played. It is in position seven in the standings.
