Super Kings whip Tarouba Sports in T20

Port of Spain, Trinidad - Pills & Beyond Super Kings had a winning start to the 2014 edition of the Diamond Premier League Twenty20 Tournament when they recorded a 32-run win over Tarouba Sports Club as action bowled off in late May.
Super Kings won the toss and choose to bat first and rattled up 165 runs for five wickets in their 20 overs. The competitive total was set up by opening batsmen Arvind Bissoondath (57) and Nigel Gayasingh (28) in a partnership of 92 from 12 overs.
Tarouba, in their turn at the crease, were restricted to 133/6 in 20 overs. Number three batsman Craig Rampersad (58) and Jon Ross Jagessar (20) were the only players to offer any resistance.
In other matches, national T20 standout Evin Lewis (56) propelled his Barrackpore United outfit to a strong 88-run victory over Debe Youth Foundation. Batting first, Barrackpore were led to 158/5 with Lewis the main contributor and Chris O’Brian chipping in with 25. Lomas Bachan was Debe’s best bowler taking 2/24. In reply, Debe Youth Foundation never settled and were whittled away for just 70 in 17.3 overs. Javed Mohammed was their top scorer with 19 while Barrackpore’s Vasisth Maharaj was the pick of the bowlers with his haul of 4/17.
