Georgetown, Guyana - Philadelphia, Blake and Parika Salem Primary schools recorded victories when action of the Scotia Bank nationwide Kiddy Cricket Festival continued yesterday on the East Bank of Essequibo.
At the Vergenoegen ground, Philadelphia defeated Zeelugt by 33 runs. Zeelugt batted first and scored 126-8 in 10 overs. Yashpaul Ramcharittar scored 11, while extras contributed 22.
Amos Baird grabbed four wickets, while Orwin Waithe claimed three and Akeem Throtman two. Philadelphia replied with 159-4 in 10 overs. Baird and Shemar Hutson led with 14 apiece while Waithe supported with 12; extras assisted with 22. Anil Jacobs and Suresh Hansraj picked up two wickets each.
Blake overcame Tuschen Primary by 13 runs. Blake took first strike and managed 127-8 off their allocation of 10 overs which included 30 extras. Rachel Durga snared two wickets for Tuschen who responded with 114 in 10 overs, but suffered 11 dismissals. Extras played a vital role with 43.
Nicholas Persaud grabbed 3 wickets while Rayshanna Sukhai and Lallman Persaud had two each.
St. Lawrence Primary went down to Parika Salem by 10 runs. Parika Salem posted 169-7 in 10 overs, batting first. Alex Ali was their leading batter with 28, while Donald Gibson chipped in with 14 and extras added 36.
Celina Wong and Leesa Rampersaud bagged two wickets each. St. Lawrence replied with 159-6 in 10 overs. Beesham Singh made 17 and Krishamurtie Singh 10. Extras supported with 30. Alex Ali and Neetu Gobind had two scalps apiece.
Action in this zone continues on Monday with Parika Salem facing Philadelphia and Blake playing Greenidge Park who drew the bye in the semi finals.
