Sammy becomes BMW Ambassador
CASTRIES, ST LUCIA - West Indies Test and Twenty20 captain, Darren Sammy, has etched name into the history books, but it's not with the bat or with the ball this time.
Sammy was unveiled as a brand ambassador for German automobile giant, BMW. In doing so, Sammy became the first West Indian sports personality to be given the honour.
For his acceptance of the role, the Windies skipper was presented with a BMW Sports Convertible from St Lucian BMW representatives, Ultimate Automobiles. Through the local agency, Sammy was chosen as the first brand ambassador from the Caribbean.
Managing Director of St Lucia's Ultimate Automobiles, Mario Reyes, said in excitement, "Darren Sammy is the first West Indian to ever be appointed on behalf of the BMW Group as a Brand Ambassador outside Germany. Typically sportsmen like golfers Bernhard Langer and Martin Kaymar and Rugby’s Alex Cordisio, have been endorsed as brand ambassadors for BMW."
Sammy disclosed the news on his official Twitter account saying, "All in smiles with #prestigeautos manager after signing the deal....#BMWambassador".
He also tweeted moments later, "Very honored to be brand ambassador for BMW #prestigeautos..."
