Gavin Williams to replace Martin

ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC -- Rookie batsman Gavin Williams will lead a 13-man Leeward Islands side for their first match of the Regional Four-Day Championship against Guyana starting Friday.

The 27-year-old right-hander has played only seven first class matches since making his debut two years ago.

He takes over from West Indies leg-spinner Anthony Martin who led the side in the recent Caribbean Twenty20 campaign when Leewards failed to make it past the preliminary round.

PINK ball a big hit with Pollard

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad -- West Indies allrounder Kieron Pollard says he is looking forward to the prospect of playing with the innovative pink balls in the WICB Regional Four-Day Championship starting later this week.

The big-hitting right-hander will line up for Trinidad and Tobago when they face Combined Campuses and Colleges in Barbados at the 3Ws Oval.

“I am excited to be on the Trinidad and Tobago team for this weekend. I have never played a match with the PINK ball before so for me this is something special,” said Pollard.

Windwards arrive minus Sammy

WINDWARD Islands captain Liam Sebastien showed no sign of fear or intimidation as his team prepares for Friday's opening match of the West Indies Regional Four-Day Cricket Championship against defending champions Jamaica — the team which beat them in the semi-finals of the recent T20 tournament.

Gayle back in Jamaica squad for 4-day
