Rampaul to play in T20s, 50-over match
COUVA, TRINIDAD - Trinidad and Tobago fast-bowler Ravi Rampaul will return to action with the national team later this week when they play Canada in two Twenty20s and one 50-over match as part of Canada's ongoing tour of Trinidad.
T&T are currently playing the Canadians in a three-day match at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain Couva.
Though not part of the T&T three-day team for the match, Rampaul was at the venue yesterday, bowling in the outdoor nets as he geared up for a return to competitive action following a knee injury that kept him out of T&T's successful Caribbean T20 campaign in January.
T&T manager Omar Khan confirmed yesterday that the 28-year-old Rampaul will be part of the T&T squad to face Canada in the two T20s which are scheduled for Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre on Wednesday and Thursday night and the 50-over match to be played at NCC on Saturday.
On Sunday, Rampaul was bought by Indian Premier League outfit Royal Chargers Bangalore for US$290,000 for this year's edition of the IPL.
Adrian Barath also missed the three-day match against Canada after aggravating a thumb injury for which Khan said the opening batsman is getting treatment.
The 22-year-old Barath is unlikely to play in the upcoming T20s against the Canadians but might be fit enough for Saturday's 50-over match.
