Queen’s Park in control in T20 Group A

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD - Queen’s Park Cricket Club moved to the top of the Premier Division Twenty20 Group A standings after defeating Seenath’s Auto Bamboo Sports by 76 runs in the penultimate round match at Bamboo Recreation Ground yesterday.

The Parkites led by an unbeaten 58 from skipper Justin Guillen, piled up 169 for four off their 20 overs before Queen’s Park spinner Anthony Simmons snatched four for 15 to help dismiss Bamboo for 93 in 16.3 overs.

Also among the runs for the Parkites were Akeal Hosein and Jeremy Solozano who scored 35 and 36 respectively.

There were also some big upsets yesterday.

In Group A, newly promoted Hafeez Karamath Limited Aranjuez Sports defeated Moosai Sports by six wickets at Honeymoon Park, El Dorado, and in Group B another newly promoted side Caldrac Club secured a tense eight-run win over First Citizens Clarke Road United at Gilbert Park in California.

Merry Boys were also in winning ways with victory over Alescon Comets at Diego Martin Recreation Ground.

The final round of matches—the rescheduled second round—will be played on Wednesday with the top four teams in each going through to the quarter-finals.
