Pines pip GC Foster for Portmore crown

Kingston, Jamaica - Portmore Pines are the 2014 Portmore Cricket Association T20 League champions after defeating GC Foster by three wickets in the final at Bridgeport Sports Complex yesterday.
Batting first, GC Foster, who were losing in the final for a second straight year, were restricted to 109 off 18 overs.
Pines, who were contesting their first final, replied with 113 for seven and won off the last ball of the match.
"It is a pleasing victory as we have been working hard all season," said Pines manager Shawn Green.
"Coming into the final very few were betting on us, however, I knew that once we played to our potential we could win."
Former national Under-19 captain, Derval Green, with 55, made most runs for the Gibbs Williams-coached GC Foster.
His knock included two sixes and four fours and he was best supported by Ransford Henry 18.
Pines, who entered the final as underdogs, despite upsetting title favourites Colour's International and Waterford in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively, were led in their pursuits by the in-form Damion Bryce.
He made 65 off as many deliveries, with captain Terrence Brown, 15 off six balls, being the next best.
Left-arm spinner Odane Vassell, two for nine and Green, two for 25, ended with most wickets for the losers.
"We gave a good account of ourselves even though we lost," said Green.
"The scores were tied on 109 with one ball remaining and with better luck we could have won."
