Lyght’s aggressive 77 hands DCC 1st innings
GEORGETOWN, GUYANA - Opener Andrew Lyght Jr struck nine sixes and three fours in his pugnacious 77 which handed hosts Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) a 96-run lead over Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) at the end of the first day of their Georgetown Cricket Association/Heroes Cup first division contest at Queenstown yesterday.
GYO won the toss and opted to bat first before they were bowled out for 188, with A. Raheem 33 (2x4, 1x6), W. Mohammed 29 (3x4), Kamesh Yadram 26 (4x4, 1x6) and S. Sankar 20, which included four fours, being their principal scorers.
Trevon Griffith took three wickets while Kevin George and Yenkini Favorite took two each for DCC, who at the end of the day’s play reached 274 for 6 with Brian Sattaur 71 (13x4), Jamal Hinckson 50 not out (4x4, 3x6) and Griffith 40 (7x4), offering support to Lyght Jr, even as Yadram claimed 3 for 49 for GYO.
Today is the final day and play will get under way at 09:30hrs.
