Liberta continue to dominate local cricket

St. John’s Antigua- PIC Liberta kept their unbeaten run in all formats of the Antigua & Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) 2013 season alive over the weekend when they hammered United Insurance Combined Schools by an innings and 43 runs in round four of the ongoing two-day competition.

In their first innings, Combined Schools reached 127 before they were all out. The top score came from Shequan Hewlett who had 44 runs, while Alzarri Joseph contributed with a knock of 26.

Hayden Walsh Jr was the pick of the bowlers for Liberta, grabbing three wickets for 30 runs, while two wickets each were taken by Stanny Simon and Kadeem Phillip.

Liberta had a first innings reply of 242 for one with Kerry Mentore and Phillip both posting centuries. Mentore reached 114 not out, while Phillip had 102 not out.

Combined Schools, in their second innings, were all out for 72 runs with Walsh Jr doing most of the damage, picking up six wickets for 33 runs, while Phillip bagged three for 20.

Bartlett Henry and Akeem Blackman had 16 and 15 runs, respectively, for Combined Schools.

All other matches slated for last weekend to include All Saints versus Jennings, Bolans versus CUB Bethesda and Scotiabank Empire versus Medpath New Winthorpes were all rained out.
