Kirby, King lead TT women to victory
SINOVILLE, SOUTH AFRICA - All-rounders Leeann Kirby and Stacy Ann King scored half centuries to lead TT to a 92-run win over Highveld Province in their final T20 match of their South African tour on Wednesday.
The visitors batting first at the Sinoville ground, rattled up 175 for five off their allotted overs. Kirby notched up 56, her second-half century of the tour, while the inform King made 54. Gaitri Seetahal made 25 and Brittney Cooper added 20.
In reply the home team was restricted to 83 for seven with captain Sune Luus top scoring with 21 and Nkuli Thabethe 17 not out. Cooper was the main wicket taker with two for seven from two overs.
Earlier in the day the visitors defeated their opponents by six wickets in the first match. Highveld could only muster 63 for the loss of seven wickets from their 20 overs. Luus was the only South African batter in double digits with 18 with extras accounting for 12. Seetahal and Cooper had two wicket each.
The twin island women who changed up their batting line-up sending the youngsters up front, got to 64 for four off 18.3 overs. Kamara Ragoobar made an unbeaten 19 while Samantha Bissoon added 14.
It was a successful tour for TT as they won eight of their nine matches, suffering their only defeat at the hands of Northerns in their first 50-overs match. They are expected to return tomorrow.
